“Look, this is where Louis Napoleon slept!”

A tour of Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd, with an explanation in easy Dutch, understandable for newcomers who can already speak some Dutch.

That was the idea of Sara Vlasblom, working at Museum Oud Amelisweerd. She contacted Welkom in Utrecht. We invited people to come. And so, last Sunday, a group of refugees from Ukraine, Syria and Iran stood listening curiously.

Based on the story of Louis Napoleon, the brother of that other famous Napoleon Bonaparte, who was King of the Netherlands 250 years ago. And slept in the mansion. Nice was also the story about the Chinese wallpaper, hand painted. Also interesting were the modern pieces of art in all those ancient rooms. Most of them understood Dutch well.
