Chess tournament with SportCoalitie Utrecht
Last Saturday, together with Sport Coalitie Utrecht, we organized a chess tournament at the Pahud. Local residents, Utrechters and people from the various shelters came together to play against each other for 6 hours.
It was a super fun afternoon where even the participants who did not know each other interacted between rounds and showed interest in each other’s lives and backgrounds. The participants from different backgrounds, young and old, experienced and inexperienced, made the tournament very exciting until the very last moment….
The two finalists Ammar and Henk had to play an extra game to decide who would win the tournament…. The winner ended up being Ammar! And as a prize he was awarded a beautiful stone chess board with stone chess pieces.
All participants were incredibly enthusiastic and in particular young Ukrainian Valeriia: “I can’t wait for the next one, hopefully we will do this again soon!” she said after the activity.
And whether there will be a next one? Definitely! Because of the enthusiasm and the very nice cooperation with Sport Coalitie Utrecht, we have decided to organize more chess tournaments. We don’t know when yet, but we will keep you posted!
