Taking the women of the language café to the Rijksmuseum
“This was a day to remember.”
Every Friday there is a language café for mothers at Plan Einstein Joseph Haydnlaan. Women learn the Dutch language with a wonderful group of volunteers and the children who are not yet going to school are also lovingly cared for so that their mothers can study!
But on June 28, something very different was on the program: 14 women (volunteers and their buddies) went on an excursion to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam! Some were especially fascinated by the paintings in the Gallery of Honor and others marveled at the Delftware or the silver and gold collection. A lot of knowledge, experiences and personal stories were exchanged.
With a delicious picnic at the end, it was a day with a golden edge that everyone enjoyed immensely.
It was like a school trip, or as one participant said, “It was like a vacation.”
Thanks to Refugee Council Netherlands for the free museum tickets!
