Playing soccer at DVSU
Many times we had been told by refugees that there was a need for a soccer activity. So we wanted to arrange that!
A group of friends from the soccer club DVSU in Lunetten was eager to welcome the refugees! Soon there was a group of 7 enthusiastic soccer players from different locations who were eager to train with them. From a donation we were able to provide soccer shoes, the boys from the soccer team went to pick up the boys themselves, provided drinks in the canteen beforehand and then got to playing soccer.
“It was touching to hear that one guy had not been able to play soccer for 8 years and that when he was still living in Syria he had played at a high level. You could see that hurt him, even though he was very happy to finally be able to play soccer again.”
Everyone was so excited that they will definitely practice again next week!
