Dutch classes for illiterate adults
Do you hear a B or a P in this word?
All hands point to the right, so it’s a P!
These learners are so happy to be at school and to have lessons from our amazing teacher, Suzanne Zonnenberg! Their faces say it all; big smiles and a classroom packed with motivated students every time.
The people in this group don’t yet have a residence permit and have to wait until they’re allowed to follow official Dutch classes as part of their integration process.
Many of them never had the chance to go to school in their home country or received too little education to learn how to read and write properly.
Thanks to a generous contribution from Stichting De Nieuwe Haven, we were able to offer them this opportunity now with a real NT2 teacher! Teaching people who are illiterate or have had very little education is not easy, so we’re incredibly grateful to be able to provide proper support.
Through these lessons, we’re also giving them the language tools to one day contribute to the labour market.
A huge thank you for making this golden opportunity possible!
