We recently facilitated a workshop around the book “The True History of Dancing Buffalo.” The idea came from Jet van Bennekom, a volunteer and active member of the Ukraine Kyiv Utrecht Foundation since 2000.

And so on Saturday morning in Utrecht Library on the Neude, a mix of Ukrainian and Dutch children crafted and designed their paper houses, which they filled with their dreams and their memories. And later, in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, they also shared their worries and fears about possibly never seeing their own room again.

We saw many blue and yellow hearts, Ukrainian wheat fields, and also the House Of Saint Nicholas! The children took their “home” home with them.
