“What a beautiful voice you have! Would you like to sing with us more often and maybe participate in a performance?”

Rama from Syria was very surprised and a little shy, but she decided to join in anyway! And so, two weeks later, she was on stage at Het Wilde Westen to take part in the big concert by Musicaz, a fantastic group of musicians who visit asylum seekers’ centers and make music with the residents there.

Everyone can participate and contribute their own song to play or sing. Music is a language that everyone speaks! What a joy to see everyone enjoying themselves!

The asylum seekers’ center at Vlampijpstraat 103 can accommodate 220 people, and Welkom in Utrecht is present here to support the residents and bring them into contact with Utrecht residents. There is a living room where coffee and tea are available every day, also for local residents.

We hope to make even more wonderful connections with the neighborhood!
