Ukrainian book club
A few months ago, Welkom in Utrecht, together with an enthusiastic volunteer, launched the Reading Club in De HerculesHoek—an initiative aimed at connecting people who love to read. The idea is simple: once a month, the group chooses a book, reads it, and then gets together to share thoughts and impressions, and just enjoy each other’s company.
Last week, the third meeting of the book club took place — and it was once again a warm and inspiring session.
Coordinator Daria explains:
“We just had another meeting—a small group, but with an incredibly rich discussion full of reflections and different perspectives! Time flew by. To make the session more interactive, we added a mini-game: each participant randomly drew the name of a main character from the book and described a day in their life. It was really hilarious, with lots of creativity and laughter—a fun and playful addition to the conversation.”
Interest in the book club continues to grow. New people join the group chat and ask about upcoming meetings. Not everyone can join right away, but the door is always open and every session brings something special.
The reading list is compiled jointly: each participant suggests one book, ensuring a varied and engaging program for the next six months.
