Art from the azc
There is no shortage of artistic talent in Utrecht’s asylum centers. For example, abc Pahud is full of fantastic works of art by residents that can be viewed by anyone. Many works of art contain personal stories and emotions, as do these two beautiful paintings made by Stephen.
With both paintings belonging together and hanging below each other, he has wanted to depict a very great contrast. What he has depicted and wants to share with others in terms of emotion is not a story that stands alone:
“The beach painting is the opposite of my journey. A positive life, a good quality of life during the summer vacation. My journey from Africa to Europe was a tough experience. I never planned for it, but I had to look for a safe place for my life. I had no choice. I had to take the risk to save my life. It is not encouraging. It is a dangerous journey.”
