Recently, the cozy meeting place De HerculesHoek was filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious smell of homemade Ukrainian food during our traditional Ukrainian Varenyky Workshop. Ukrainian participants and Dutch neighbors gathered around tables to make varenyky\u2014traditional stuffed dumplings\u2014together.<\/p>\n\n
During the workshop, three types of filling were offered: mashed potatoes, salty quark, and sweet cherries\u2014for both savory and sweet lovers.<\/p>\n\n
\u201cIt was so nice to see how involved our Dutch guests were in the cooking,\u201d said participant Natalia. \u201cWe were happy to share a piece of our culture with them. The atmosphere was really great! We even got to practice a little Dutch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
After preparing dozens of varenyky together, all participants enjoyed a shared meal to sample their culinary skills.<\/p>\n\n
For many, the workshop was not only about food, but also about connection. \u201cParticipating in a workshop like this is so much better than just sitting in your room with nothing to do,\u201d shared Nadiia. \u201cThank you very much.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
